The Southern Area are excited to announce that Yoshihiko Iura Kodokan 8th dan will be delivering a National Kata course on 26th-27th November.
Taking place at: Army School of Physical Training, Aldershot Garrison Sports Centre, Prince’s Avenue, Aldershot, Hampshire. GU11 2LB Iura-sensei will cover:
Saturday 26th November: Nage-no-kata
Sunday 27th November: Itsutsu-no-Kata and Katame-no-kata
Currently living in Iceland, Iura-sensei has a high-quality judo CV and his extensive international experience includes teaching in Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the Far East. Previously, the Japan Foundation and the Kodokan have posted him as Judo Expert to various countries including Vietnam, India and Turkey. Iura-sensei has also demonstrated various kata at Kodokan ceremonies, the All-Japan Judo Championships, and the Kano Cup.
This is an opportunity not to be missed to be coached in Kata by a very knowledgeable and leading expert. There will be also an opportunity to take British Judo Kata Examinations, and/or to be assessed for the Kata component of the Technical Dan Grade Syllabus.
Participants will be accepted on a strictly first come first served basis. Having a partner is preferable, but not essential. Prior knowledge of these Kata is beneficial but not essential.
