Southern Area Judo

Competitions Committee
You are here:

The role of the Southern Area Competitions Committee is to ensure that all SA tournaments are run in accordance with the British Judo Association rules and are fully insured, complying with the Tournament handbook, whilst providing the best experience for players, spectators, coaches and officials.

Liaising with the SA Referees Committee, events are planned in consultation with each county and the national calendar to avoid clashes wherever possible. To facilitate this, the Competitions Commission meet regularly and discuss developments and plans for the future. The competition co-ordinator for each of the six counties, Guernsey, Hampshire, Jersey, Kent, Surrey and Sussex are represented as well as the BJA, providing the best opportunity to work together for the benefit of all those involved in judo.

Another element is to ensure that all current technical officials are up to date and progress through the scheme if they wish to do so. Together with providing opportunities for new officials to join the scheme, the aim to ensure that there are sufficient officials trained at all levels to be able to run competitions.
