The county of Surrey borders London to its south west side and spanning 642 square miles, also provides easy access to Kent, Sussex, Hampshire and Berkshire. Surrey’s proximity to the capital means much of its wooded land is protected by green belt, earning the nickname ‘leafy Surrey’, combined with the centrally located Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A little further west, the county town of Guildford is the main pull for tourists visiting the area. The North Downs Way National Trail runs from Farnham in the west of Surrey, through to Oxted and into Kent.
