Surrey Open – Low Grade Minor, Pre-cadet and Kyu Grade Senior
All competitors must be 14 years old or older on the day of the event. Maximum grade 1st Kyu. All Competitors must present a valid BJA licence or a BJA affiliated association licence at the weigh-in together with proof of grade.
Minors and Pre-Cadet:
Minors: born 2014 to 2017 (minimum age 8 years) – Maximum grade 6th mon:
Boys weight groups: -27kg / -30kg / -34kg / -38kg / -42kg / -46kg / +46kg
Girls weight groups: -28kg / -32kg / -36kg / -40kg / -44kg / -48kg / +48kg
Pre cadets: born 2012 to 2013 – Maximum grade 9th mon:
Boys weight groups: -34kg / -38kg / -42kg / -46kg / -50kg / -55kg / -60kg / +66kg
Girls weight groups: -32kg / -36kg / -40kg / -44kg / -48kg / -52kg / -57kg / +63kg
Kyu Grade;
All competitors must be 14 years old or older on the day of the event. Maximum grade 1st Kyu. All Competitors must present a valid BJA licence or a BJA affiliated association licence at the weigh-in together with proof of grade.
Group A – Men novice to 4th kyu. Weigh-in 1pm to 1:30pm:
Weight groups: -60kg / -66kg / -73kg / -81kg / -90kg / -100kg / +100kg
Group B – Men 3rd & 2nd Kyu. Weigh-in 1pm to 1:30pm:
Weight groups: -60kg / -66kg / -73kg / -81kg / -90kg / -100kg / +100kg
Group C – Men 1st Kyu only (no Dan grades). Weigh-in 1pm to 1:30pm:
Weight groups: -60kg / -66kg / -73kg / -81kg / -90kg / -100kg / +100kg
Group D – Women novice to 2nd Kyu. Weigh-in 1pm to 1:30pm:
Weight groups: -48kg / -52kg / -57kg / -63kg / -70kg / -78kg / +78kg
Group E – Women 1st Kyu only (no Dan grades). Weigh-in 1pm to 1:30pm:
Weight groups: -48kg / -52kg / -57kg / -63kg / -70kg / -78kg / +78kg
The tournament director reserves the right to combine categories if required and in the event of any dispute either on or off the mat, their decision is final

- • Medals will be presented throughout the day
- • All competitors must always wear suitable footwear when off the mat
- • Only matside qualified coaches with a valid card will be allowed matside
- • Coaching will be allowed throughout the contests
- • All players must weigh in with white T-shirt and judo trousers with a 0.8kg allowance
- • Videos and photographs may be taken on the day and used to advertise the event
- Technical restrictions will apply for the Minors event
- No armlocks and strangles are permitted in Minors or Pre-Cadets
- Minors and Pre-cadets 3 minute contests, Kyu grade seniors 4 minute contests
- Golden score for Minors is 3 minutes (if required), pre-cadets unlimited and kyu grades unlimited
