Surrey Veterans Open 2026
Eligibility: Veteran men & women (over 30 years of age), holding a valid full BJA or an affiliated association licence.
Categories
Men: u66, u73, u81, u90, u100, +100kg
Group A – Men aged 30-39 years, 2 kyu and below
Group B – Men aged 30-39 years, 1 kyu and above
Group C – Men aged 40-49 years, 2 kyu and below
Group D – Men aged 40-49 years, 1 kyu and above
Group E – Men aged 50-59 years, 2 kyu and below
Group F – Men aged 50-59 years, 1 kyu and above
Group G – Men aged 60+ years, 2 kyu and below
Group H – Men aged 60+ years, 1 kyu and above
Women:
Female competitors will be placed in categories according to weight on the day. This will allow the tournament director to create appropriate weight categories after the closing date, to make it a fairer tournament and provide contests for everyone. The entry form will allow for weight to be entered to prevent unnecessary travel.
Group I – Women aged 30-39 years, 2 kyu and below
Group J – Women aged 30-39 years, 1 kyu and above
Group K – Women aged 40-49 years, 2 kyu and below
Group L – Women aged 40-49 years, 1 kyu and above
Group M – Women aged 50+ years, 2 kyu and below
Group N – Women aged 50+ years, 1 kyu and above
The Tournament Director reserves the right to combine categories if necessary.
In the event of any dispute, the decision of the Tournament Director is final.
Weigh in times:
- Groups A-D 8:30am to 9:00am
- All other categories 11:00am to 11:30am
Competition rules:
- Contests will be 3 minutes long for groups A-F and I-L, followed by golden score when necessary. Groups G,H, M and N will be 2.5 minutes with one minute golden score.
- No shime-waza is permitted for any player aged over 60 (Groups G and H). A decision on shime-waza for ladies in Groups M and N will be made on the day once actual ages have been confirmed
- BJA rules will be strictly adhered to throughout the tournament
- White or blue judogi only – no BJJ or other martial art gis are permitted
- The tournament director may combine age / weight groups if numbers require
- Proof of age will be required at weigh in along with a valid judo licence
- Point scoring when applicable
Entry Information:
- £25 per competitor
- No charge for spectators or car parking
- Café on site
- No refunds once entries close
