Started judo in 1963
Won medals at National level from 1968
Member of the Under 21 Olympic Squad
Stopped competing in 1975 following an industrial accident and the loss of 2 ½ fingers from the left hand.
Coaching experience:
Founded the Horsham Judo club in 1976, continuing to run it to this day
Coached members to represent Great Britain as Youth Internationals, British Schools, British Police and Armed Forces abroad
Integrated Special Needs players training at the club with one representing Great Britain at a Special Needs International Tournament.
Refereeing experience:
National Refereeing commission from March 1991 to 1997 as the National Refereeing Registrar
Involved in the conception of the junior referee award
International EJU referee
Appointed as an IJF Referee Assessor Examiner in January 1997
Examiner experience:
Qualified as a Senior Examiner in 1988
Appointed Southern Area Supervisory Examiner June 1993
Appointed Southern Area Director of Senior Examiners in 2019
Other relevant experience:
Sussex committee in 1976 serving for over 25 years (treasurer, squad manager, refereeing representative, grading officer, chairman)
Southern Area Committee to March 1991 as the Area Refereeing Registrar, returning to be a member of the Promotions Committee
