Sussex Closed Championships 2024
THIS EVENT IS TO ALLOW MEDALLISTS TO BE ELIGIBLE TO JOIN THE COUNTY’S SQUADS. THE COUNTY SQUADS MANAGER WILL SELECT PLAYERS TO REPRESENT THE COUNTY AT THE INTER COUNTIES COMPETITION AND OTHER EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.
JUNIOR AGE LIMITS FOR COUNTY TRIALS: 8 TO 15 YEARS ON 14TH APRIL JUNIOR AGE LIMITS IF SELECTED FOR INTER COUNTIES: 8 TO 15 YEARS ON 12TH MAY.
FOR SENIORS, THIS IS A LEVEL 3 POINTS SCORING EVENT FOR 1ST KYU AND DAN GRADES.
SUSSEX CLUBS AND ENTRANTS should note that the weight groups for the County Trials will be fought, subject to numbers. This is to build full Sussex teams, including male and female kyu grades, to be available for other events as well. The format for the Intercounties is shown under the weight categories for the Trials.
All new medallists and existing squad members will be available for a randori and final selection event on 21st April 2024. This will be run at Ashington Community Centre by the County Squads manager.
OPEN TO: All BJA licence holders.
You must produce your current licence on the day confirming your grade. No licence no contest. Your licence must show Southern Area and a Sussex registered club. This event is licenced for 150 players and will run on 2 mats.
ENTRY
Entries will only be accepted from your club only and paid from your club account by BACS. Closing date 6.00pm on 6th April 2024. Your entry must be emailed to both Peter Seymour and Barbara Holmes and the entry fees must be in our bank account by 6.00pm on 6th April.
Payment must be made direct to Sussex County Judo Clubs at Natwest 60 06 20 56947895. The payment reference should read the club name and number of entries, e.g. ABCJudo6.
ENTRY FEES: Juniors £20.00 Seniors £25.00 Junior and Senior £30.00
REFUNDS People may apply to the Competition Organiser for a refund providing a genuine reason for withdrawing.

COMPETITION DETAILS
Contest times: U 16 = 3 minutes O 16 = 4 minutes
8 players or more is compound knockout & repechage. Fewer than 8 players is by pools. Some groups may have to be merged. Any queries or disputes on or off the mat will be decided by the Tournament Director whose decision is final. The competition is run under BJA rules as per the Tournament Handbook. ALL players must have a white compliant judogi.
RUNNING TIMES
MEDALS WILL PRESENTED AFTER THE JUNIOR SECTION AND AGAIN AFTER THE SENIOR SECTION. SENIOR CONTESTS WILL COMMENCE AT 14.00 HOURS. THESE TIMES MAY ALTER ON THE DAY
